Training with BSAC

** BSAC 2011 promotion **
£185 off a drysuit, EACH, when a member introduces a friend to BSAC
See BSAC website for details

Are you already a BSAC member; or interested in joining us, and require diving training? If so, then our team of qualified instructors can probably help you to gain various BSAC diving qualifications. These are highly regarded and accepted world-wide.
(Please note that to join Cotswold 332 you need to be aged 17 years or over and medically fit. Parental approval is needed for anyone under the age of 18 years. The club will consider applications from younger persons provided they are directly related to an existing or joining member who will take responsibility for them during club activities.) Use the links below to find out more about training.

I have no diving qualification but would like to start diving training

I have a diving qualification from an organisation other than BSAC

I am a BSAC member and want more training

I have no diving qualification but would like to start diving training:

A good place to start is to do a Try Dive. This involves a session in the pool with one of our instructors who will take you underwater to sample the diving experience. We charge £10 for this, but it includes pool entry, all equipment and instruction.

Should you decide to join Cotswold 332 we will first ask you to complete a medical form and a membership application form. If these are OK, you will then be required to pay the appropriate fees (see
MembershipFees.pdf)

You can then start the BSAC Ocean Diver training course which involves seven theory classroom lessons, five practical lessons in the pool and five practical lessons in open water (flooded quarry or sea). The practical lessons will normally be done on a one-to-one basis with one of our qualified instructors and you will be allowed to progress at a pace which suits you. You will be required to provide your own basic kit (mask, fins, snorkel) but, if necessary, can borrow the remaining kit (cylinder, regulator, buoyancy compensator, weight belt) from our stock of training equipment or join our equipment purchase scheme.

On gaining your Ocean Diver qualification you will be able to join in the club dives and go down to a maximum of 20 metres. After doing some post-qualification dives to gain more experience, you will be encouraged to start the next level of BSAC diving qualification - Sports Diver. This again involves a series of theory and practical lessons with our instructors and will qualify you to dive to 35 metres.

For more information about BSAC diver training go to: http://www.bsac.com

I have a diving qualification from an organisation other than BSAC:

If you are already a qualified diver, but through another diver training organisation such as PADI, your experience will be recognised should you wish to join the BSAC. For example, if you are a PADI Open Water Diver you would cross-over to BSAC as an Ocean Diver, or if you are a PADI Divemaster you would cross-over as a BSAC Dive Leader.

To join Cotswold 332 as a qualified diver we would ask you to complete the membership application and medical forms, pay the membership fees, purchase BSAC decompression tables and any other BSAC training material you may require. We would check your existing qualifications, transfer you to the equivalent BSAC qualification and, as a minimum, ask you to attend a brief ‘Induction to the BSAC’ lesson.

Should you need any refresher training, e.g. if you have not dived for a while or in the UK, or you would like to enhance your qualifications then we would arrange this with you.

I am a BSAC member and want more training:

If you are already a member of Cotswold 332, or an existing BSAC member who would like to transfer to Cotswold 332, then we can probably help you to extend your training and skills. There are a wide range of BSAC training courses that we either run within Cotswold 332 or can access via the BSAC regional and national coaching networks.

Within the BSAC and as a Cotswold 332 member you can progress from an Ocean Diver to become a Sports Diver then a Dive Leader and beyond. There are also a number of Skill Development Courses that are available, e.g. boat handling, first aid for divers, practical rescue management, underwater photography, and many more. Or you may want to get involved with diver training - there are a range of instructor courses that are available.
