September Plymouth
Members of the club took to the waters of Plymouth at the end of September onboard the hardboat Abyss. With several scenic sites dived on Saturday, and the wrecks of the James Eagan Layne and HMS Coronation on Sunday.
A stiff northerly wind didn’t spoil the fun given that the sites were protected by the high cliffs, and as a bonus the sun was shining all day. Underwater visibility was good, with 6-8m on the Sunday, and plenty of life on all the sites.
The Coronation is a protected wreck, with special permission obtained to dive it. With a laminated guide in hand, and compass bearings to navigate the site, you can’t get it wrong! For non-divers, and those who missed a cannon or 2, a virtual tour is at http://www.coronationwreck.org/tour.html.
Thanks to Mark for organising and Craig & Ellie for the photos. There’ll be more trips on Abyss in 2021.
