Isle of Wight

Isle of Wight, hardboat weekend, October 14th/15th.

I am organising a hardboat charter out of Lymington for the weekend of 14th/15th October, on ‘Wight Spirit’ with skipper Dave Wendes.  www.wightspirit.co.uk

Dave is one of the top skippers on the south coast and has a modern boat with space for 12 divers and a stern diver lift.  The boat will sail out of the pretty harbour town of Lymington in the New Forest, Hampshire.  This will give us access to wrecks and reefs in the western Solent, around the Needles and to the south of the Isle of Wight.  The weekend benefits from an excellent neap tide and should allow diving on some sites that are not always accessible due to strong currents, for instance the wreck of the Serrana on the Needles Bridge reef.  Other possible wrecks include the Fenna (glass wreck), Venezuela and War Knight, plus drift/scenic dives.  Depths will be max 30m, most wrecks we have in mind are 20-25m.  The trip will be suitable for Sports Divers and above.

The price for diving I have been quoted is £45 per diver per day, based on a full boat of 12 divers.  This is the 2016 rate which the skipper hopes to keep to, however should fuel prices rise significantly the skipper has said there may be a circa £2 charge on top.  We will do two boat dives per day.

To book onto the trip please contact me, a deposit of £45 secures your place, with the remaining £45 payable 4 weeks in advance of the trip.  Those wishing to dive for only one day please contact me so we can find a suitable arrangement, really we need to fill all 12 boat places per day to keep costs down.

Deposits and final payments are non-refundable unless boat spaces can be re-filled. Should there be a small fuel surcharge this will be payable on the weekend (skipper will confirm nearer the time).

Divers should arrange their own transport to and from Lymington and book local accommodation.  Gloucester to Lymington is 2hrs 25min by car.  Plenty of accommodation is available in and around Lymington, or further afield in Christchurch (30mins drive) or Bournemouth (45 mins drive).  Unfortunately air fills are not available in Lymington itself.  Gas may be obtained from a dive shop in Christchurch whom I will contact prior to the trip.  Alternatively bring enough gas for the weekend with you!
