Marine ID Course
MARINE ID COURSE AT THE NATIONAL MARINE AQUARIUM SUNDAY 18TH MARCH 2018
Great opportunity to learn more about marine life ID – these courses don’t come along very often and definitely not with these tutors and whilst using the facilities at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth. It will be specifically aimed at divers and will cover life you are likely to see whilst diving in the South West of England and Wales.
The course is run by MCS-Seasearch but you don’t need to have done any previous courses so it’s an ideal place to start if you want to know more about what you are likely to see during a dive.
Course Summary
Marine ID course at the National Marine Aquarium
With Seasearch tutors Sally Sharrock and Chris Wood.
Sally was Seasearch Coordinator for Devon for many years and still tutors Seasearch courses and contributes to Seasearch diving.
Chris was the National Seasearch Coordinator and author of the books ‘Seasearch Observer’s Guide to Marine Life of Britain and Ireland’ and ‘Sea Anemones and Corals of Britain and Ireland’ and is still very much involved in Seasearch diving.
The course will cover the identification of species most likely to be encountered by divers in the West Country with photos, video and dried and fresh (where possible) species as examples. Fish ID will be augmented by observing and recording live specimens in the Aquarium.
